Video: DRILLMAX® DM250 - Features Walkaround

Drillers seeking efficiency for water well or geothermal jobs choose the DRILLMAX® DM250 for its top head rotation speed combined with 22-foot stroke all under Class A/B CDL requirements. NEW in 2021 are the optional carousel carrying eight, 3-inch mayhew regular rods. Another NEW option is an on-board grout mixer and a centralizer tray. These new options amplify production allowing driller to focus on making the hole while the helper works on other job site duties.

Rod Carousel
carries 160-feet of 3-inch drill pipe for a simple, easy way to go in and out of the hole; grooves along carousel provide visual indicator when aligning rotary head over rods

On-board 40-gallon Grout Mixer
runs off of rig hydraulics, saving fuel compared to running an extra engine

Centralizer Tray
simplifies storage on rig and provides user-friendly access

Small Rod Box
transports an additional 100-feet of 3-inch drill pipe to back feed into carousel instead of a adding a centralizer tray (not pictured)

DM450 New Options

DM450 NEW options include rod carousel, factory-mounted mud cleaning system, rod box, and on-board 50-gallon grout mixer

Owners of the DRILLMAX® DM450 choose its speed and efficiency to tackle tough water well, geothermal, and cathodic protection jobs while its simple operation makes training new operators easy. NEW in 2021 are the optional carousel carrying 12, 3.5-inch rods and rod box for an additional 15 rods. Also NEW is an on-board mud cleaning system or on-board grout mixer. These new options permit the driller to easily trip in and out while the helper focuses on other site tasks, ultimately increasing production rates.

Rod Carousel
carries 240-feet of 3.5-inch drill pipe; grooves along carousel provide visual indicator when aligning head over rods; head shifts left and right before it reaches top

On-board Mud Cleaning System
uses separate hydraulic circuit eliminating competition among functions, easily connects to pump for quick set up

Rod Box
transports an additional 300-feet of 3.5-inch drill pipe to back feed into carousel using winch and jib system

DRILLMAX® Drill Pipe

More than 15% Lighter.  More than 15% Stronger.  More than 30% More Flow Capacity.

Weighing in at 30-lbs less than conventional drill pipe yet 15% stronger means the 20-foot DRILLMAX® drill pipe is easier on you and the rig, especially when drilling deeper holes.

"Typically you have to choose between light weight and high strength, but we were able to do both. Lighter weight results in less wear on the machine, while increased strength gives you confidence in your tooling performance," Kyle Riedel, tools engineer lead, said.

A company drilling 500-foot geothermal holes uses the top head to pull the first three of the total 25 rods because the winch isn't strong enough. With the NEW DRILLMAX® drill pipe, they can use the winch to pull the whole string, ultimately saving wear and tear on their rig.

Higher hardness tool joints facilitate longer wear life and result in a more durable pipe. The 1.75-inch through hole provides more than 30% more flow capacity for efficient hole cleanout when compared to a conventional 3-inch drill pipe with a 1.5-inch through hole.

"The same through hole but less weight means carrying more pipe on the machine without negative impacts to drilling process," said Dillon Sickler, regional rig sales and service specialist.

Designed to work with the DM250 equipped with rod carousel, notches on the end of the pipe allow the rods to rest in alignment on the DRILLMAX® carousel for more efficient drilling.
